Introduction

A ClydeNET Technical Advisory Group (CTAG) has existed since the formation of ClydeNET in 1995.   Over the years CTAG has provided technical assistance to the ClydeNET management group on a wide range of Networking topics, e.g.,

  • Network design
  • Connection issues
  • Special projects – Resilience and upgrades
  • Procurement
  • Security
  • New technology and services

CTAG has also provided a focus for technical discussions and information sharing between technical contacts representing each ClydeNET site.

Now that ClydeNET has re-constituted as a legal entity the role of CTAG needs to be confirmed.

Remit

The ClydeNET Management group has formally appointed a ClydeNET Technical Advisory Group (CTAG). The remit of the CTAG is as follows:

‘ To provide technical assistance to the ClydeNET Management Group on Networking issues requiring specialist knowledge’

Membership

It is anticipated that the work of CTAG will be very specific and that the timescales for producing reports will be tight. To meet these challenges the following structure has been adopted:

Core – A small group of Network specialists who will be responsible for investigating the issues and producing the reports. This group will consist of the present CTAG core members.

Overall - In order to keep other technical specialists aware of current issues and to solicit a wider technical input, the present CTAG e-mail list (ctag@Clyde.net.uk) will be expanded to include technical representatives nominated by each ClydeNET site.
