How we Built it - Infrastructure |
|
|
|||
|
The
ClydeNET Infrastructure consists of a Metropolitan area element and a
Non-Metropolitan area element. The Metropolitan area covers sites located
within the Glasgow and Paisley conurbations, whilst the Non-Metropolitan area
covers the remaining sites. Within the metropolitan area the ClydeNET
infrastructure integrates the original ClydeNET network, the Glasgow
Tele-college Network and the West and South West Network WeSSNET. The
Metropolitan area benefits from an extensive Dark fibre communications infrastructure
(supplied by THUS Plc) providing a core resilient Fibre optic ring to which
each metro site connects via dual diversely routed fibre optic circuits; For additional site resilience
and where economically feasible these circuits have been provided in separate diversely routed
ducts. The Non-Metropolitan area benefits from high-speed and high availability
managed circuits (supplied by THUS Plc) operating at bandwidths ranging from 45Mbs to
100Mbs. The only exception to this provision is the link to Barony college,
which for economic and engineering reasons could only be provisioned at
4x2Mb. Circuit Diagrams
