1995 Season[Previous Season] | [Next Season] Averages, captain's report and results. Much knashing of teeth as the bounciest wicket in Scotland, Richmond Park, is no more. You could square cut there from mid April, but the council have seen fit to turn it over to the ruffians of the football fraternity. However, our move to the freezing wastes of Millerston was largely successful as there's a good bar. Breac McLeod became only our second centurion in 27 years, while Angus McAinsh sportingly got himself out on 99 so as not to steal his thunder. Another highlight was skipper Hugh Bell setting a club record by scoring over 600 runs without ever running a three. Our games often hang on odd events having nothing whatsoever to do with cricket. Having bowled West of Scotland out for 125 in an important league match, we were 83-1 when our opener, on 53, had to contrive to get himself out, as his wife was singing in a concert and he couldn't miss the curtain call. We lost by 4 runs. But the moment we were most proud of was giving the lie to that ridiculous old adage "catches win matches", when we managed, in one innings, to: drop 10 catches, miss 3 stumpings, fluff a run out and still win.
