1996 Season[Previous Season] | [Next Season] Averages available. With most clubs boasting about their youth policy in last year's annual, the question: "What will become of the old codgers?" was being anxiously asked around the circuit. To counteract this ageism we have instituted a new policy under the slogan: A Day Out with Grandad and it is already bearing fruit. Several old pros have been lured out of retirement (record 19 years after hanging up his boots) and the club were proud to field a team with an average age of 41, in a Strathclyde League Division 1 match and win. Plans are in hand to get rid of the remaining twenty-somethings, with their tiresome demands to run strange things they call "quick singles". Sadly we have had to leave our ground at Millerston. The information that the scrapyard bordering the midwicket boundary had been the scene of a gangland double murder, if imparted to the opposition openers as they took guard, was usually worth a couple of early wickets as they glanced nervously over their shoulders.
