1997 Season[Previous Season] | [Next Season] Averages, results and captain's report available. As predicted, the University surpassed themselves in fouling up the new ground. They laid the artificial pitch 35 yards from a road, leaving a 130 yard boundary on the other side. Projected opening is now 1999 so we remain homeless trailing from one council tip to another. This year's "home ground" was Garfield in North Lanarkshire, where some nut had laid the wicket East to West. Great for lob bowlers though. With the rains pouring down, one of the club anoracks took it upon himself to scientifically answer the age-old question round our leagues: "When we umpire our own games, are we at it or are we merely incompetent?" Poring over scorebooks he discovered that of the last 100 wickets he had taken 37 had been clean bowled, while only 2 were lbw! View from Holland |
