1999 Season[Previous Season] | [Next Season] Averages, results, photos and captain's report available. After 40 years in the wilderness (well it felt like that at times) we reached the Holy Grail of our new ground in the Garscube Estate. As a result cricketers appeared out of the woodwork and we picked up 10 new players without trying. Even more amazingly we then won 11 games on the trot, a club record by some way. This year we are targeting the University's 7000 students and employees in the hope of uncovering another 10 or even 20 members, who knows what talent is lurking out there undiscovered. With the reinforcements, we won Division 3 of the Strathclyde League and tied for Division 3 of the Evening League, while another club record was struck by two players, neither of whom had ever scored a century, both ending up marooned on 98 not out. Isn't cricket a cruel game. Finally, one of our bowlers, who has amazed his team-mates by taking hundreds of wickets for the club with no appreciable skill whatsoever to aid him, at last revealed his secret: "I aim to bowl every delivery exactly the same and my lack of control ensures the necessary variation".
