The
calm before the storm :
Muthu scores 29 from 14 balls, Derek Copeland scores 55 in 19 overs,
with partnerships totaling 119 runs. In a thrilling tie against
Glasgow Accies, 4th August 2003.
Nobody present at the ground could fail to notice Fraser Murry
nervously chewing his nails, after foolishly announcing in the 31st
over: "You have 75 runs to get, in 9 overs, at a rate of
8.5 an over. I think were safe..." [smug look at Ian Holland,
umpiring] whose direction the shrewd reading of the match
was directed. With 8 runs to win in the last over and 4 wickets
remaining, it was still anyone's game...
A thrilling and tense game, in a wonderful setting, on a hot summers
day: what the game of cricket is all about...
