The First Grass Pitch

After 3 years of eager anticipation, the first game, using the grass square, was played on Thursday 14 June, 2001.

An evening friendly had been arranged against Drumpellier 3rds. However, as only one non-playing member had turned up - the rest of the team being lost somewhere between Coatbridge and Anniesland - the staff paired up to face 4 overs of grudge cricket, per pair.

The ground staff worked hard to prepare the first strip and it played very well. Although still a little soft the pitch played very even, taking both seam and spin.
